I'm going to rip out my eyes and throw them at Bill Gates.

Why?

P3P . . . what is that? P3P is a privacy protocol built into Internet Explorer 6 that requires your website, in order to send cookies, have a privacy document set aside if you use any sort of frames and cookies at the same time.

Sure, the anti-frame lobby will tell me to eat shit. Fuck them. IFRAME and top-level framing are handy ways to quickly repurpose data. I don't always feel like using PHP. Sometime I don't have the necessary access to make good use of PHP anyhow.

The dumb thing with P3P is that the p3p.xml document doesn't have any force or any legitimacy. If you want to lie or go around the end user, oh well.

Besides, who ever reads the privacy document from a website?

Right. I bet you do. Liar.

Microsoft always seems to find a way to fuck things up just teeny little bit. The version of IE6 that comes with XP SP2 is far and away the most usable version of IE ever.

On the other hand, these token measures are supposed to do what?

Trust me. Pop-up blocking was a good step.

Easy Firefox-like access to all the permissions for blocking JS, Java, cookies, etc. would be much more useful.

And, frankly, I've made a good living off morons that can't secure their browsers. Why does Microsoft undercut small computer business by trying to empower morons? Let them get overrun by viruses.

Then they'll switch to Mac, an OS that prevents viruses by doing utterly nothing of interest or use. Since the only thing you can do on a Mac is run Photoshop, why care?

At some point, users will want to run something other than Photoshop. "Oh, mommy! Our computer is more lame than a leper colony in a wrestling ring! I wanna play a game that isn't six years old!" Then they'll have to put Mac's Photoshop OS away and reload Microsoft's actually decent Windows XP (which, if you just strip half the running services away, is a good damned OS).

If MS would develop a sense of minimalism, they'd be surprised.

Stripped down, XP is a great OS (because, stripped down, XP is just 2000 Pro SP4). If you run a stripped down browser like Firefox, it is even better.

But, eventually, you'll run MS Office. And that fucking paper clip will jump up and down like Texas cheerleading slut trying to pep up all the good ol' boys before their ritual race war on astroturf.

And then you'll want to rip out your eyes and throw them at Bill Gates. Again.

Hopefully, stem cell research will have advanced to the point you can do that several times a week.
